Hello! Welcome!

This space has evolved from a personal project into a dedicated hub for literary exploration. What began as a way for me to process my emotions at the beginning of covid has transformed into a place to share book reviews, literary insights, and reflections on the written word. Writing remains my way of engaging with the world, and I hope these words inspire you, whether you’re discovering new books or delving into familiar ones.

Over the years, this blog has shifted from Shades of Pink to Salt & Citrus, and now into its latest form, as I embrace a broader literary focus. My work now includes a mix of thoughtful book reviews, occasional musings on literature, travel, and culture, and updates about my ongoing journey with writing and reading. It’s all part of a larger narrative of growth and discovery—a celebration of both the beauty and complexity of stories, in whatever form they take.

This blog was the jumping off point for my (online) literary magazine of the same title, Salt & Citrus Zine, which has now been archived. I continue to work on Chthonic Lit, my newest (print) magazine where I curate and share speculative short fiction with a wider literary community.

I aim to post regularly, with new content each Sunday at 9am, so feel free to check back for fresh reviews and musings on books and writing. Don’t get mad at me if I miss a Sunday! Writing weekly is difficult, but I’m trying my best.

Thank you for being part of this journey, and I hope you find something here that resonates.

xx,
Ciara

How to stay in touch!

If you hit that sweet subscribe button you will never miss a new edition of this newsletter. Is it a newsletter? Blog post? Perhaps public journal entry is a more adequate label. Please like and comment! I love hearing what you think.

If you are looking to hire me as a writer, you can check out my website that has an updated CV.

What does subscribing do?

You won’t have to worry about missing any of my strange thoughts! Every new edition of the newsletter goes directly to your inbox. You can unsubscribe whenever you want, I promise I won’t take it personally.

If you opt in to a paid subscription (THANK YOU), please keep in mind that all my posts will remain free; it is simply a way of supporting me and my artistic practice (which I greatly appreciate). For paid subscribers/founding members you are more than welcome to send me book suggestions to review! That will be your special treat. It depends on the book if I actually accept them, so try to request things that seem up my alley, please!

Thank you <3
